The Greatest Discovey

This story you are going to read is true. It is the story of a man who was politically powerful, very rich, and a philosopher too.  You might think such a man had the perfect life with no lack of anything and not denying himself any pleasure.

The man was King Solomon, known for his economic and political strategies whereby he made money as well as partnerships with other kings and queens. His fame was so great that politicians from distant lands came to hear his wisdom and see his wealth as well as honour him with gifts.

As a philosopher he devoted himself to study and explored by wisdom all that happened under the sun.  He is said to have been the wisest man that ever lived. He undertook great projects such as building houses for himself, planting vineyards and gardens with all kinds of plants in them.  He made parks with reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees.  He possessed huge numbers of livestock.   No-one could calculate the amount of gold and sliver he possessed.  What a rich man!

You might imagine that there was nothing missing in this man’s life.  Certainly many of us would think so, but lets find out what he had to say about his own life:

“When I surveyed all that my hands had done and how hard I had worked in doing it, I realized it did not mean a thing. It was like chasing the wind; of no use at all.”

This politician, philosopher and rich man came to that conclusion after he had tested many things.   This is what he has to say to anyone who trusts in his human wisdom, political power or wealth:

Says the Philosopher: QUOTATION

You may have been doing your own research, seeking to find meaning in life or a better purpose to live for. As King Solomon became disappointed with all he had acquired, you yourself are perhaps in a similar situation: asking questions, having doubts and having a hope that you will find the answer as the man in the story found. Here is what he says: “FEAR GOD AND OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS.”   When HE comes into our life it will never be the same.

    Mais um fim de semana e a familia outra uma vez vive um lindo domingo ensolarado e um "céu de brigadeiro". Entre as "quinquilharias" de garagem, o Sr. Berklers encontra a antiga churrasqueira de quintal - patrimônio de familia! Seus filhos mal podiam esperar para "ajudá-lo" na demorada preparação. Tanta euforia que o menino até deixou o seu aeromodelo de lado, a menina guardou as últimas peças do "lego" favorito no armário enquanto a Sra. Jane terminava com os ricos detalhes de mais um projeto a ser entregue na semana seguinte. Cada um contribuindo com o que podia. Vale tudo para provar uma carninha suculenta na brasa. Portanto, som na caixa e mãos a obra! Trabalho em equipe sempre foi…

  • ::Então é Natal!
    Written by Kleber Chiomento
    Lá no oriente um anjo anunciou e a estrela guiou; aqui no ocidente o fim do ano já chegou e a festa recém começou: então é Natal! Ruas iluminadas, árvores enfeitadas, mesas fartas - os até aqui marginalizados porém apetitosos peru recheados entram em cena uma vez mais para cumprir sua tarefa - presépios pitorescos e belos presentes, caros ou baratos: muitos! Emoção nunca escassa nos discursos natalinos seja em simples reuniões familiares ou mais elegantes jantares de fim-de-ano que empresas gentilmente franqueam aos seus empregados - às vezes até soando como a voz da pesada consciência dizendo desculpa-por-tudo-ano-que-vem-tem-mais. Enfim o que nos resta para este tempo são sinceros desejos de muita paz e esperança.

    Outro dia, alguém dizia o quanto a história da humanidade evoluiu nos últimos 100 anos. "... No princípio do século XX, nos locomovíamos apenas usando cavalos, não se falava em celulares e a forma mais expressiva de conquista espacial vinha dos tímidos balões de ar quente – aqueles colossais voadores que o nosso tão estimado Santos Dumont apadrinhou...”

  • Being kind
    Written by Samuel Pereira
    Some years ago I heard this story on television.  It goes as follows: A young girl named Sophia had been taking care of her mother Phisis for many years, because she had a back injury. As the years went by Sophia became more and more frustrated with the unchanging situation.  She started to mistreat her mother, doing things like shouting at her, neglecting to feed her, and not dressing her properly.  Furthermore she deprived her of hugs and warm companionship. Despite being busy taking care of Phisis, Sophia was bored with her lifestyle and soon decided to change it dramatically.  For the first time she went out with some friends to a party.  She enjoyed it and from that day…
